“Paul Rudd has agreed to play a big role in Episode 17. He’ll play past-his-prime English rock star Desmond Fellowes, who is touring American college campuses. Piz, as part of his radio-station duties, will be his host. It’ll play as sort of a My Favorite Year-style story. Naturally, this being Veronica Mars, Desmond’s suitcase containing many essential items will go missing. Piz will ask Veronica for help.” (Source: Ausiello)
Veronica helps Piz find the missing background vocal tapes for a famous musician visiting Neptune. (Source: Tv.com)
Paul Rudd (love) guest stars as a burnt-out rocker who has lost his spunk (figuratively speaking, thank you very much) and also the backup tapes necessary to perform for Hearst College. And Piz recruits this certain sassy little blonde he knows to help. But the most amusing part of the ep? The fact that Rob Thomas told me Paul Rudd is an old friend who was thisclose to playing Vinne Van Lowe! (Source: Kristin EOnline)

Season Spoilers

Last night at ABC’s upfront bash, a high-level Warner Bros. executive confirmed :It’s entirely possible that the CW will delay a decision on Mars’ fate until after Thursday’s upfront. Contractually, the net has until June 15 to reach a verdict, and the extra time would allow Rob Thomas to produce an actual script for Veronica in the FBI.

I’m hearing Rob Thomas’ pitch was received well by the CW, and with Gilmore going away, the network has a bit more money to throw around. (Source: Kristin EOnline)

The CW loved the FBI theme so much so that VM’s condition has been upgraded from “critical” to “guarded.” Dawn Ostroff requested additional materials from Thomas on the proposed revamp. (Source: Ausiello)

Veronica and Logan wont be over and done with, although Veronica tells Logan he’s out of her life forever. (Source: Ausiello)

“Where still kicking,” Rob Thomas - I can say with absolute certianly at this point it has not been canceled. (Source: Kristin EOnline)

Main man Rob Thomas was baffled by Enrico Colantoni’s assertion that Dawn Ostroff rejected the FBI idea.”I have no earthly idea what Enrico is talking about.” As Rob pointed out, the CW doesn’t see (or hear) his pitches for next season until May 2. (Source: Ausiello)

With Veronica’s love life geting “extra play” in upcoming episodes causing major developments abound strangely occuring in or around elevators. (Source: Ausiello)

Max Greenfield, will return to Veronica for at least one episode, including the season finale. And Jake Kane will also be back! Now, as long as this isn’t a fond farewell finale and just a season finale, I’m all for this. Oh, and by the way, I hear that if Veronica were to continue, Rob Thomas is interested in doing a storyline between Deputy Leo and Daddy Mars—yet another reason to renew. (Source: Kristin EOnline)

Ausiello has seen the first two episodes after the hiatus and says the new show format of mystery per show is very successful. (Source: Ausiello)

[Rob Thomas on a 4th Seaon] “We’re very much on the fence for a fourth season. My amateur handicapping of our situation — 60/40 in our favor. We are shooting the finale as a season finale — not as a series finale. There will be no alternate. If they do try to get rid of us, we’re not going to make it easy for them.” (Source: Ausiello)

Logan, having learned his lesson from that whole Madison debacle, will ask for Veronica’s permission before schtupping one of her best friends.
Before the “Who killed Dean O’Dell” arc is up, there will be another murder. (Source: Ausiello)

First, V has occasion in an upcoming episode to ask her ex whether he’s ever patronized a lady of the evening. “So Logan has to answer that to her face,” Dohring said, channeling his character’s discomfort. “She has to ask him a couple of times, too.” At that point, even I became uncomfortable, so we moved on to the topic of Veronica and Piz. “He’s an awesome character,” Dohring said. “Just as an audience member, I would like to see how that dynamic works. And then maybe he can get a bit of a dark side and he and Logan can go off together and start a gang. He’s very different from Logan, and I think Veronica needs that quality in her life also. Logan gives very, very little of his time.” Yet what time he does give her, I pointed out, we fans eat up. Am I right here? We like them together, but we love them apart. “I totally agree with you, man,” he said, adding that something soon will occur that forces them to work together. “So hopefully I finally figured out how to play that banter, like when we’re working on a project together instead of being at odds with each other. I think there’ll be a little bit of a Tracy-Hepburn thing, so we’re just trying to perfect that.” (Source: Ausiello)

Rob teases that “despite his on-screen death, Ed Begley will reappear during the Who-Killed-Dean-O’Dell mystery.” (Source: Ausiello)

Rob Thomas is considering making Veronica Mars into standalone episodes. “Our fear is that the big mysteries are keeping casual TV viewers away, and it’s very difficult to engage Veronica in a multi-episode mystery without making it extremely personal. Season 1 was built around the mystery. Veronica’s best friend was dead. Every series regular was intertwined with the mystery. Without replacing the cast with each mystery and/or killing Wallace, I’m not sure we can devise enough personal connection to a case to keep the momentum we had in Season 1.” (Source: Ausiello)

Seven more episodes of Veronica Mars have been ordered. (Source: Kristin EOnline)

Returns 3rd October.

Richard Grieco is guest starring this season for a multiple episode arc.
Kendall’s situation is resolved within the first couple of episodes, but it could give way to another problem that Keith could be entrenched in for awhile. Logan and Veronica are adorable together so far, although it’s already clear this new guy Piz is interested in her (boooo!), and Dick Casablancas makes a complete ass of himself on campus pretty much immediately. You won’t be disappointed! (Source: Kristin EOnline)

Kristin from EOnline shares:
1. Keith is responsible for the death of someone we’ve known and loved for a long time.
2. Veronica feels responsible for a heinous crime.
Jason Dohring 3. Dick is a dick. And eventually, Logan will be, too.
4. Piz is a smitten kitten.
5. Veronica is hot and naked. Logan is hot and naked. And they might even be hot and naked together! Ga! (Source: Kristin EOnline)

Laura San Giacomo will be joining the show. “”She plays a woman who comes into Mars Investigation and asks Keith to prove that her husband is cheating on her, and the two of them kind of hit it off,” ……”So Keith is really hoping he finds evidence that he’s cheating.” (Source: Ausiello)

Weevil (Francis Capra) is back and we will see him as much as we did last year. (Source: Ausiello)

Rob Thomas: “Ed [Begley Jr.] plays Cyrus O’Dell, the dean of Hearst University. He holds the distinction of being the college dean most often burned in effigy in the entire nation. He never spends more than two or three years at a university. His reputation is that of a ‘fixer.’ He gets hired. He comes in, fixes the university’s problems by ignoring politics, bureaucracy and red tape. He gets the job done, but makes enemies in the student body, faculty and board of trustees and is quickly run out of town. He’s in his second year at Hearst.” (Source: Kristin EOnline)

Matt Czuchry will cross over from Gilmore Girls to Veronica Mars on Oct 24th.(Source: Ausiello)

“Our first mystery will be nine episodes, with no preemptions or repeats. Our second mystery will be seven episodes, with no preemptions or repeats. And our final mystery of the year will be six episodes, with no preemptions or repeats.” Of course, he adds, “that’s spoken with the confidence of a man who thinks he’s going 22 episodes.”
Tina Majorino is officially a series regular. Logan and Dick will join Veronica at Hearst College. There will be two new characters a roommate for Mac and a roommate for Wallace.
Charisma Carpenter will be on the show at least once. Teddy Dunn won’t come back. Last season briefcase mystery will be wrapped up in the first two episodes. (Source: Ausiello)

Veronica Mars is scheduled for 22 episodes but if the ratings don’t hold up it can be scaled down to 13.

Sheriff Lamb is officially a series regular now. (Source: Eonline)
