Smallville Spoilers

Show Summary

Smallville tells the tale of a teenage Clark Kent in the days before he was Superman. It is the town where he came from where very strange things started happening with his arrival in a spaceship in the midst of a meteor storm of green rocks. Clark must deal with a variety of individuals given powers by the green rocks, keep his powers a secret, cope with his friendship with a young Lex Luthor, and balance the two girls in his life, Chloe and Lana. Season Spoilers

In the early going, Tess will be interacting mostly with Zod. They’ll eventually align, but they’ll have different agendas: She wants to protect the Blur, he wants to find it. In other Smallville news, I hear episode 3 — featuring a zombified Lois — is spooktacular. (Ausiello)

Sources confirm exclusively that Smallville has cast Julian Sands (24, Warlock, a million other things) to play a young Jor-El. He’ll make his debut in the November episode “Kandor” when it’s revealed that he arrived with Zod and the other Kandorians.  Save for a brief appearance as a vision in season 3, Jor-El has been heard but never seen on Smallville (Terrence Stamp does the voiceover honors). As of now, Sands is locked in for one episode.  (Ausiello)

One of the following is true about this season’s sixth episode:
* Lois and Clark go on a date together.
* Lois goes on a date with someone other than Clark.
* Clark goes on a date with someone other than Lois.
* Lois and Clark both go on a date with other people. (Ausiello )

Smallville isn’t messing around with the special effects. It looks like they pulled out all the stop on the sweet, first episode. Also, all of you Lois lovers will be happy to know Erica Durance (Lois Lane) is interwoven throughout many storylines and is front and center during most of the show. Set three weeks after the events of the finale, Clark (Tom Welling) is training to be Superman and is struggling with leaving his humanity behind. He’s frustrated with his inability to fly, but is told by trainer Jor-El it’s because, “You still see yourself as a human.” Meanwhile Clark’s relationship with Chloe (Allison Mack) is downright rocky, while he remains obsessed with Lois. Lois doesn’t have a clue where she was for the last three weeks, but when she returns, it’s in the company of a freaky Kryptonic-ninja lady from the future whose out to get Clark. And watch out for Lois’ scary dream sequence at the end of the episode: there’s sex, sweat, blood and death. (KristinEonline)

Producers are planning to include the Wonder Twins, Green Arrow’s sidekick Speedy, the Justice Society of America and future Daily Planet boss Perry White this season. (KristinEonline)

Oliver will meet the bad guy version of the Green Arrow (a.k.a. the Dark Archer) in episode 10.  (Ausiello)

Storyline involving Chloe and Oliver: Next Friday’s episode, “Roulette,” is all about Oliver, with a little Chloe twist thrown in. (Ausiello)

While Clois relationship hasn’t exactly moved along faster than a speeding bullet, you’ll be glad to know that there are blue skies on the horizon — beginning with this week’s big smooch. “They both have a few issues, so things never go as smoothly as you think,” says exec producer Kelly Souders. “But what’s great about the relationship, because it’s sort of more adult, mature relationship, is it actually brings their issues up to the forefront, and makes them start dealing with them instead of being the younger versions of themselves, where they might not have been that conscious of it.” (Ausiello)

“I would say tune into [episode 9] ‘Pandora,’” Souders teases. “Reality is relative in ‘Pandora,’ but I will say that when [Lois] goes to the future, there’s some skin there.” Souders adds that “‘Pandora’ is literally like a finale. It’s huge. You’ll see an alternate ending for everyone in the cast. You’ll see what could happen to them and the future is dramatic. You won’t be disappointed.” (Ausiello)

“There’s something coming up in these first nine episodes,” Souders reveals, “in which Clark might at least contemplate glasses.” (Ausiello)

Exec producer Kelly Souders confirms that the highly anticipated eppys (titled “Society” and slated to air in early 2010) will mark the return of Phil Morris as Martian Manhunter. (Ausiello)

The calm before the storm, perhaps? “Chloe fans will not be disappointed,” Souders maintains. “There will be some budding romance in her life from an unexpected source.” Oliver? “I’m not saying.” In possibly related news, Souders reveals to me exclusively that during the second half of the season, “Chloe is going to meet a new hero who is not all that he’s cracked up to be.” Will this hero be carrying a DC Comics certificate of authenticity? “I don’t think we got the rights to his name cleared,” says Souders, “but it’s somebody fans of the show will be familiar with.” (Ausiello)

‘Smallville’ exec to fans: ‘We’re pushing for a 10th season!’ (Ausiello)

Source also says, “The two-part Justice Society episode is going to make Superman fans, no actually comic book fans. LOSE. THEIR. S–T.” You have been warned. (KristinEonline)

Rosenbaum recently met with the Smallville writers, but, sadly, it was just to shoot the breeze. “He came by the writers’ office a couple weeks ago,” says Souders. “We all love him. The crew and the cast love him. We would love to have him back. We’re constantly talking to him trying to figure out if there’s a way. And believe me, we will keep fighting that fight until the final episode. And I know he’d love to come back, too.” Wait, if he wants to come back, and the show wants him back, what’s the holdup? “He’s doing other projects, so the timing of things is always a little tricky,” says Souders.  (Ausiello)

“We have a story that we would love to tell with Perry [White],” says Souders. “But [Michael McKean] is in a Broadway show right now. So he’s not exactly available at the moment.” (Ausiello)

I hear she’s going to stir up some love-triangle drama between Lois and Clark in the episode’s called “Warrior.” In other Smallville news, Tom Welling’s practically naked — and he’s making out with Lois! (Ausiello)

On Chloe’s new love interest -  She meets him at San Diego Comic-Con Metropolis Wonder-Con. (Ausiello)

I’m hearing The CW has decided to package Smallville’s upcoming (and highly-anticipated) Justice Society-themed two-parter into a two-hour movie event airing on Jan. 29. The Geoff Johns-penned episodes, titled “Society” and “Legends” and featuring such DC Comics stalwarts as Stargirl, Hawkman, and Dr. Fate, were originally designed to air separately. But, according to Smallville insiders, CW execs felt they could get more mileage out of combining them. (Ausiello)

Blaxploitation icon-turned-L-Word staple Pam Grier is joining the cast for multiple episodes, sources confirm to me exclusively. Grier has been booked to play DC Comics villainess Agent Amanda Waller. The Golden Globe nominated actress (for Jackie Brown) will make her debut in the second hour of the upcoming Justice Society-centric two-parter, “Legends,” scheduled to air in late January.  (Ausiello)

On Warrior Angel being the love interest of Chloe: He is, but per exec producer Brian Petersen, “There’s a wink behind it.” And what about a real, non-winky love interest? “I have promised that we’re going to give Chloe a relationship this year, and rest-assured, that was not just a tease. She will have a relationship this year.” Does this guy have a name? Teases BP: “We’ll know [who he is] in ‘Warrior.’” (Ausiello)

According to e.p. Brian Petersen, “we will see glimpses of” several other Justice Society members in Smallville other than Hawkman, Dr. Fate and Stargirl.  (Ausiello)

Brian Austin Green returns as Metallo! Sources confirm to me exclusively that Brian Austin Green will reprise his role as the kryptonite-powered villain in this season’s 18th episode, scheduled to air in the spring. Green debuted as journo John Corben (a.k.a. Metallo) in Smallville’s season premiere back on Sept. 25. He was killed off the following week when he accidentally ripped his mechanical heart out of his chest. (Ausiello)

Chloe’s love interest – The character’s name is Steven Swift, his alias is Warrior Angel, and he’s being played by Carlo Marks. He played Chloe’s “what if” fiancé in the season 7 episode “Apocalypse.”  (Ausiello)

It’s official – Smallville’s upcoming two-hour Justice Society-centric “movie” is now an actual movie. Sources confirm to me exclusively that The CW has jettisoned the separate titles that were initially assigned to each of the two episodes — “Society” and “Legends,” respectively — in favor of the singularly sensational (and far more marketable) Smallville: Absolute Justice. (Ausiello)

This one’s pretty yummy: Later this season, Clark takes Lois on a romantic getaway to a bed and breakfast. Tasty, right? Well, there’s more. Guess who’s also enjoying a quiet weekend away at the same B&B? Oliver and Chloe! (Ausiello)

This one isn’t going to taste nearly as good as the last one. Rumor has it Clark will get infected with red kryptonite again. (Ausiello)

Annette O’Toole is returning as Ma Kent, executive producer Brian Peterson confirms to me exclusively that Smallville is also bringing back Michael McKean as Perry White at season’s end. The iconic character’s latest trip through Smallville will bring him “closer to his destiny” than ever before, adding, “We finally get to see the legendary introduction between Perry White and the intrepid Lois Lane.” O’Toole and McKean will appear in this season’s penultimate episode 21.  (Ausiello)

Sources confirm to me exclusively that Annette O’Toole has inked a deal to reprise her role as Clark’s mom later this season. Producers are still working out the exact timing of Martha’s reappearance, but a Smallville insider tells me it’ll most likely fall during May sweeps. That same source hints that the mother-son reunion will be rocked by an “unexpected surprise” or two. (Ausiello)

Valentine’s Day-themed episode on Feb. 19, features two things no Smallville fan should miss: Lois dancing in a wedding dress and a catfight between Chloe and Tess! (Ausiello)

Two characters will soon discover each others’ secret identities. (Ausiello)

Clark and Zod will have an inevitable (and rather spectacular) showdown before the end of the season. And look for Lois and Perry to team up on the Kandorians story. (Ausiello)

The CW has renewed the show for a 10th season! The early pickup hardly comes as a surprise given how well the show has been performing in its new Friday timeslot. (Ausiello)

Details of Erica Durance’s contact for next season are still up in the air, but I have it on good authority that we will “probably” see Lois “more than usual” on Smallville next year. (KristinEonline)

Chloe’s last season on Smallville? All I can tell you is that there is no deal yet for Allison Mack to return to Smallville next year. That could change at any time, but nothing so far. (KristinEonline)

Gil Bellows is coming to Smallville? Yes, he is, and he is still evil (though not because of a brain tumor this time–sigh, remember those days?!). He’s playing Maxwell Lord for two episodes this season, per my sources. (KristinEonline)

Insiders confirm that the 10th season will be a full 22-episode order; no word yet on if next year will be designed as a “wrap-up season” or if the powers that be are planning to wait and see about the ratings before making any story decisions. (KristinEonline)

Alaina Huffman will be returning to Smallville in the show’s May 14 season finale, “Salvation,” as Dinah Lance/The Black Canary. The finale will also feature comebacks by Hawkman, Cyborg, and Stargirl. (Ausiello)

Smallville’s ninth season finale will feature a cameo by one of TV’s most feared guest stars: The Grim Reaper. Sources confirm to me exclusively that producers of the everlasting superhero saga are planning to kill off a major castmember in the May 14 capper. And if the death of “Jimmy Olsen” last May taught us anything, it’s that no one — and I mean no one — is safe on Smallville. Okay, Clark is safe. But everyone else is fair game. (Ausiello)

As we go into next season, we will see Clark maturing through some of his growing pains as he evolves further into the hero he becomes. (KristinEonline)

Clark and Chloe going to be on good terms again this season. Chloe’s been doing what she thinks is right to protect the world, but that all unfortunately has consequences, and they will pay off in episode 18 tomorrow night, and in episode 20, “Sacrifice,” is where this really pays off. (KristinEonline)

Episode 21 Hostage: It’s a really pivotal episode because even though Martha’s (Annette O’Toole) been gone, clearly she’s still been watching over her son and been in his life. To have her come back into the show provides a great episode that lets us explore how much Clark has grown since he graduated from high school and since his father died. Perry comes in, too, and has a great story with Lois Lane, which turns them in a different trajectory than they’ve been on. (KristinEonline)

Kelly Souders said Clark and Lois would develop until the very last second of the season. I can back that up 100 percent. It’s not just Clark and Lois, it’s really the relationship between the Blur and Lois, and Clark and Lois that drives all the way up into the last few minutes of the finale. It’s one of the bigger cliff-hangers at the end of this season, what happens with them. (KristinEonline)

Finale Spoiler – Everybody has come to expect some huge, gigantic, massive superfight because we do that a lot in our finales, or we once did, and this year will still meet everybody’s expectations. We have some amazingly iconic moments—moments catch close to all of that much bigger mythos that has become Superman—probably more than any other episode in the series. But it also is much more about Clark’s character and his growth, and some character reveals than just all-out fighting. It’s a really great way to go out of the season on some amazing character cliff-hangers. (KristinEonline)

Identity of the mysterious red queen -
Two things: 1) She’s someone we know, and 2) Make sure you watch the May 7 episode. (Ausiello)

Martha Kent (Annette O’Toole) returns home to Smallville on May 7, and, much to Clark’s surprise, mom’s got a new boyfriend — Perry White (Michael McKean)! Here’s your exclusive first look at what I’m sure will go down as one of the show’s most awkward double dates ever. (Ausiello)

Not in this Friday’s episode, since, well, they kind of hit a major  rough patch — an inevitable consequence of “the boiler pressure that both of them are under,” says exec producer Kelly Souders. “Lois is struggling — unbeknownst to her — between Clark and The Blur. And [we]… see what the lie that Clark’s had to protect has done to Lois.” (Ausiello)

EP Brian Peterson hints that the blue Kryptonite dagger “comes into play heavily in the last few seconds” of the finale. (Ausiello)

Smallvile fans worried about Allison Mack’s uncertain future on the show can collectively simma down now. And here’s why… Executive producer Brian Peterson tells me he’s “very optimistic” the actress — who’s in the thick of contract talks as we speak — will be bringing Chloe back next fall for the show’s 10th season. (Ausiello)

This Friday’s episode of Smallville marks the return of everyone’s favorite Supermom, Martha Kent, and she’s bringing along a little surprise—new man candy, Perry White. (KristinEonline)

Smallville heroine Allison Mack has opted not to return as a series regular for the show’s 10th and final season. That’s the bad news. Here’s the good: You have not seen the last of Chloe — not by a long shot.
Speculation about Mack’s uncertain Smallville future had been running rampant for months. Exec producer Brian Peterson recently told me he was “very optimistic” that Mack — the show’s last original female cast member — would be back in the fall. (Ausiello)

“Season 10 promises the classic reuniting of the timeless romance between Clark and Lois, and brings Clark face-to-face with his destiny as he overcomes his final trials and forges the iconic identity that will be known for all time.” (FYI: Cassidy Freeman (Tess) is included in a list of returning series regulars.)  (Ausiello)

The CW was hoping to announce at its upfront presentation Thursday that next season of Smallville — the show’s 10th — would be its last. But Welling — who was expected to deliver said announcement in person — jumped the gun and blabbed it to the press last night.

“Season 10 of Smallville will be the last season,” Welling told HollywoodLife.com last night at an event in Beverly Hills. (Ausiello)

Tom Welling announces Smallville is wrapping things up. Not only is more Smallville after season 10′s end a possibility—with help from die-hard fans, of course—Tom’s working on a few surprise returns. “We have a lot of storylines we need to wrap up, and we need to wrap them up in a way that will fulfill the fans. The people who’ve watched up for 10 seasons, well nine, but will be 10, thank you very much, and we want give a good show to you,” he promised. (KristinEonline)
Season Premiere:  Friday, September 24, 2010, 8:00-9:00 p.m.

IGN is reporting that John Schneider will reprise his role as Clark’s late adoptive pa in the Sept. 24 premiere. (Ausiello)

As ‘Smallville’s tenth and final season takes flight starting September 24, the stage will be set for some exciting – as well as unexpected – returns.
‘Smallville’ star/exec producer  Welling expressed his wish-slash-belief that familiar and iconic faces such as Jonathan Kent (played by ‘Dukes of Hazzard’ alum John Schneider), Lex Luthor (Michael Rosenbaum) and Lana Lang (Kristin Kreuk) should make encore appearances as Clark inches closer to his super destiny. (Fancast Blogs)

NEW SEASON SPOILERS:

When we’ll see Clark in the actual Superman suit on Smallville?
There’s no exact “when” available at the moment but Tom Welling tells us this: ” Whatever we do, I want to make sure we earn the suit at the end.” So expect to see Clark going through some big things before he dons the blue and red. (KristinEonline)

Brainiac (James Marsters) is returning for ‘Smallville’s 200th episode.
The landmark hour, exec producer Brian Peterson says, is pegged to “one big event – and you have to wait for the last few minutes for it.” The episode as a whole will “explore a little bit of the past, the present and the future. We kind of do a little look back to where we’ve been, and we also take a look at where Clark is going.” Oh, and Brainiac? “You get to see a little bit of the old villain that we all love,” says EP Kelly Souders, “but with a new twist.” (KristinEonline)

Here’s a summary of some of what’s to come, as spilled at Comic-Con: Lois knows but Clark might not know that Lois knows Tom Welling directs again Darkseid is the big baddie but in a form we might not expect Justin Hartley will direct Chloe won’t get a “send-off” per se Brainiac in 200 Geoff Johns bringing back Blue Beetle and Booster Gold John “Pa Kent” Schneider has one of his best scenes ever and… Erica Durance in 22 episodes. (Fancast Blogs)

Brian Peterson says that now that Lois knows who The Blur is, “For the first time Clark doesn’t know everything; Lois has the secret. So that dynamic will flip everything in that relationship, and it really brings those personal feelings to life.” Kelly Souders echoed that sentiment, saying, “All those scenes we’ve seen Clark play over the years – going all the way back to Lana – literally get flipped.” (Fancast Blogs)

Allison Mack’s exit storyline: Chloe isn’t getting an exit storyline. “Allison created this character, brought her to life, and wants to make sure she has a part in the final season. So she’s not really being written off,” says Kelly Souders. After taking some time off early in the season to do a play, “Allison comes back and has a really strong storyline, and I think fans will be very happy with it. They will not have seen the last of Chloe Sullivan.” (Fancast Blogs)

Executive producers have “left the door open” for Michael Rosenbaum to return as Lex Luther. So, cross those fingers extra hard. Aside from all the Comic-Con scoop, we also know they have the entire season planned out, and one word EPs dropped that described it? Fulfilling. (Fancast Blogs)
